Drug Take Back

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. That's why it was great to see thousands of folks from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in - safely and anonymously - a record amount of prescription drugs.
On April 26, 2025, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the Hatfield Police Department hosted a collection site for the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. We focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our community's medicine cabinets and homes.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative provides an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for proper and safe destruction. This one-day effort is intended to bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse.
Located at the Hatfield Township Administration Building located at 1950 School Road in Hatfield.
- Liquid products and creams in its containers will be accepted.
- Controlled and non-controlled medications along with over-the-counter medications will be accepted.
- Vape pens and other e-cigarette devices can be accepted only after the individual consumer has removed the batteries.
- Sharpies, auto-injectors, and syringes will not be accepted due to the potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.
- Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in the collection boxes. If an individual wants to surrender an illicit controlled substance, law enforcement personnel will handle such material as abandoned property in accordance with department policy.
